Our Story

We're more than just delicious hand pies.

The Welle Made Co. is a celebration of two generous and audacious people - my grandparents, Fatima and Abudu Beacher Welle. Together, they taught me the importance of preserving culture and cultivating community, and embodied these values often in how they brought our tightly-knit family together through food.

Their example ignited my curiosity around leveraging food as a tool to convene and connect people. From empanadas to calzones to pasties, just about every culture has a version of the hand pie. I'm delighted to share my version of Ghana’s iconic foods with you. Enjoy!

OUR PROCESS

As a black-immigrant and woman-owned business, we’re proud to partner with local farmers and foragers–many of whom are from historically under-resourced communities like ours–to source the highest quality ingredients each week. Our signature fillings are all made in-house using locally grown produce and delicately seasoned with our homemade spice blends.
